How Do You Use an Essence?
Essences are being more and more talked about outside of Korea when talking about essential products in one's skincare routine. So what are they, and how do you use them?
In short, essences exist to treat skin concerns at a cellular level. Which means they're incredibly effective at addressing fine lines, wrinkles as well as dark spots. They're generally water based, yet extremely concentrated, and for many women in Korea, a no-brainer.
Essences generally contain an active ingredient which caters to effective skin cell regeneration which can be used at any age (you can never start too early, really).
So how do you use them? For one, because they're water-based, they're best directly onto the skin, then massaged, to avoid wasting the product as much as possible. As far as in what step of your skincare routine, it should be after cleansing and toning, and before an emulsion and/or a moisturiser.
Lastly, what's the difference between a serum, an ampoule and an essence? Essences can also be referred to as serums, however ampoules tend to have a higher concentration of active ingredients, which can also lead to a more expensive price tag.
